Obituary Notice for Cathy Sue Cole
Cathy Sue Cole (Jones) of Kingsport, TN entered her heavenly home on Tuesday February 3, 2026. after many years of debilitating health issues. Cathy was the sweetest, kindest person, making it hard for anyone to not love her. Cathy was always thinking of others and made sure that their needs were met. Even with her many health issues, Cathy made it known that she loved the Lord and depended on Him to get her through each day. Cathy loved everyone she met and especially her immediate family. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her husband, who saw that her every need was met through each of her health journeys.
Cathy is survived by her caregiver and husband of 54 years, Thomas Martin Cole, Jr.; daughter, Nikki Lynn Cole (Florida); Grandson, James Thomas (J T) Steet, of the home, whom she raised as her own son; sister, Sharon Hale (Bennie), Kingsport; sister-in-law, Sharon Cole, Johnson City; Nephews, Eric Jones (Bridget), Jonesborough; Jeromy Jones (Michelle), Jonesborough; and Niece, Kristy Jones, Johnson City.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents Curtis N. Jones and Clara Evelyn Jones (Estep). Her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas Martin Cole, Sr. and N Bernice Cole (Edwards); sister-in-law Karen D. Cole (2025), whom she loved like a sister.
Cathy retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 2016 after many years of service. She began her career with Eastman in 1969 in the secretarial pool, upon graduation from Dobyns Bennett High School. She worked her way up to Executive Secretary in the corporate offices before retiring.
Cathy accepted Christ as her Savior in 1970 at a revival service. She previously was a member of Community Baptist Church, Jonesborough where she served as a Sunday School teacher and worked as an office assistant typing the bulletin for Sunday services. Cathy was currently a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Gray. Although not active, she never missed a streaming service while confined to home. She resided at Lifecare Center of Gray for several months prior to her passing.
A graveside service will be announced as soon as plans are finalized.
