Derrick Antionne Gordon, 39 of Johnson City died suddenly at his residence April 13, 2006. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY but had resided most of his life in the Tri-Cities. Mr. Gordon was a son of Rosemary and David Pete, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC. He was a cook and attended the Guiding Light Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his father Alonzo Gordon. Survivors in addition to his parents include; his fianc?, Tonya Battle and her children, Yitisha, Dalisha and LaTonya of Johnson City; a brother, Toric Gordon of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Brandon Gordon of Spartanburg, SC and Devin Gordon of Kingsport; his paternal grandmother, Mary Gordon of Florida and his step paternal grandmother, Carrie Pete of Spartanburg, SC; four step daughters, LaShonnda Early, Shasheantail Long, Shyenda Long and Shakonna Carpenter all of Kingsport and a step grandson, Davarius Early also of Kingsport; 8 aunts and 2 uncles; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Morris - Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Chapel, under the direction of Rev. Mike Abel and Rev. Charles Martin. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at four. Cremation will follow.
