Doris E. Yates

Doris E. Yates, 80, of 123 Nuckles Drive, Jonesborough joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 10, 2009. Mrs. Yates was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Graham and Annie Hoilman Marks. Shewas a homemaker and cherished Mother and Sister and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Yates was a member of the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by: her parents; and her husband Hubert H. Yates in 2001. Survivors include: one son Michael H. and wife Edna Yates of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Susan and her husband Jerry Scalf of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Charles Yates, Brian Yates, Matthew L. Yates, and Billy J. Scalf; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Elbert Marks, James Marks, and Cecil Marks, all of Johnson City and Delbert Marks of Jonesborough; one sister, Viva Milner of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside funeral service for Doris E. Yates will be conducted at 2:30 PM Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Steve Witt will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from Family and Friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Friday at Morris-Baker. The procession will then leave to go to the cemetery.
