Doris Lee Scott

Doris Lee Church Scott, age 93, of Watauga, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Doris was born June 10, 1932, in Beech Mountain, North Carolina to the late Marion L. Church and Hildred Lewis Church. Although born in North Carolina, she spent most of her life in Watauga, Tennessee, a community she dearly loved and proudly called home.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Watauga. During the Covid pandemic, Doris faithfully enjoyed watching her great-nephew's services at First Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina. Her faith and love for her family were the foundations of her life.

Doris graduated from Mary Hughes High School and was a proud member of the Elizabethton Eastern Star. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Scott; her brothers, Edgar Church and Herman Church; her sisters, Lela Johnson, Zella Cassidy, Myrtle Cross, and Dorothy Church; her son-in-law, Bryon Bogart; and other family members from Western North Carolina.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mark Scott of Watauga, Tennessee; daughter, Cindy Bogart of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Dr. Whitney Bogart Johnson and husband, Justin, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Weston Bogart of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Leesie, Ellory, and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center 2300 and NHC for the compassionate care shown to Doris and her family.

Doris will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service for Doris is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 2:00pm at Monte Vista Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Pastor Wesley Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery no later than 1:50pm.
