Duane Coleman Budd

Duane Coleman Budd, born in Perryton Texas on April 5th, 1931, longtime Johnson City resident and physician passed away on September 13th, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his parent’s “Doc” GJ Budd and Francis Budd, brother Robert Budd and wife Ivy, son in law Steve Boles and great granddaughter Lylie Budd.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 74 years Erma W. Budd, daughter Shawn Boles, sons Garnet John Budd II and wife Julie, Duane Fenton Budd and wife Michelle and his great grandson Garnet John Budd III.

He was a member of the Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Science Hill High School. Also, he graduated from the University of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee Medical School and was an Air Force veteran. He was the recipient of several awards and recognitions from the Tennessee Medical Association and the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and traveling with his wife in their RV. He also had his private pilot's license and loved to fly his plane to UT football games and to Canada, where he loved to go fishing with friends and family.

A receiving will be held at Morris Baker Funeral Home on Friday, September 18th from 11:30-1:30 and a small private burial will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park where he will be placed next to his mother and father at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army are appreciated.
