Elizabeth "Betty" Shirley Jones

Elizabeth "Betty" Shirley Jones, age 90 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center on May 14, 2026. She was born to the late Cecil, Sr. and Daisy Denton on December 23, 1935 in Washington County, Tennessee.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Washington County, having graduated from Lamar High School. She was a hard worker, and worked for several electronic manufacturing companies in the area, and retired from Siemens Corp. She was of the Baptist faith, and most recently attended Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church. Betty loved to cook and work outside in her yard. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 41 years, Bobby Jack Jones, two brothers, Cecil Denton, Jr. and Porter Eugene Denton, and sister, Barbara Denton Slemp.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Randy (Sue) Jones and Tim (Kim) Jones; grandchildren, Chris (Dorothy) Jones, Kathy Decker, Brent (Megan) Jones, and Wendy (Andrew) Maupin; great-grandchildren, Kara Decker and Miles Maupin, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family celebrated her life privately and she was laid to rest next to the love of her life, Bobby Jack Jones in Roselawn Memorial Park.
