Frankie Louise Drayne, 83, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be the Lord on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Frankie was born on June 6, 1941, to the late Lawrence and Ina Taylor. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County. Frankie met the love of her life, Eddie Drayne, at Westview Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. They were married on March 19, 1960.
Frankie worked for the Johnson City School Food Service for 30 years. Most of her career was spent at Towne Acres Elementary School as Cafeteria Manager. She had a huge heart for children, and she made sure that no child left the cafeteria hungry, even if she had to pay for it out of her pocket. She went as far as retrieving a retainer that was accidentally thrown away in the dumpster by a student.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and sister. She loved the Lord dearly as well as her family and friends. She was a founding member of Heritage Baptist Church. She loved her church family, and served as a volunteer in Vacation Bible School, and sang in the choir and in a group at the nursing home. Her favorite pastimes were listening to gospel music and spending time with her sisters and brother. She will be dearly missed by us all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hancock (Dennis) and Velma Gladys Greene (Ernie).
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Eddie Drayne; one daughter, Ginny Drayne; siblings, Patricia Hixson, Lester Taylor (Brenda), Janice Oliver, Linda Lewis (Paul), and Gail Tayor; brother-in-law, Randell Drayne (Laura); and many special nieces and nephews.
Frankie’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Heritage Baptist Church with a funeral following, at 7:00 p.m., under the direction of Pastor Reggie Weems. Burial will follow on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Roselawn Memory Gardens at 12:00 p.m. Those attending are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 11:50 a.m.
Frankie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Grosserode and Dr. Beth McCurley for their excellent care, and all the nurses attending to Frankie at the Johnson City Medical Center.
