Mr. Fulton “Bubba” Watkins, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at his home.
He was born in Union County, Kentucky, a son of the late Robert Fulton Watkins and Cynthia Allen Watkins. He served his country in the Army National Guard before beginning a long career in auto parts manufacturing. He retired from Budd Company as a longtime member of United Auto Workers 2155.
Mr. Watkins was a Christian, attending service at Watauga Baptist Church. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and especially playing Bingo. He cherished the memories he made with his family, always wanting to make sure they knew how loved they were.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Elea Watkins, in 2018; son, Daniel Durbin, Sr.; son-in-law, Alan Day; siblings, Fannie Jane Lindsey and husband Ray Lindsey, Monroe Watkins and wife Joan Watkins, Magnolia Hael Watkins and husband Houston Hael; and sister-in-law, Laura Watkins.
Those surviving include: children, Virginia Loper and husband Bo, Maudie Watkins, Kathy Hendrix, Michelle Day, Dana Light and husband Lee, Steven Durbin and wife Sue; brother, Bert Watkins; numerous Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Watkins family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday, April 17th, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Mike Garland. Burial will take place in a private family ceremony.
