Gary Wayne Bond

Gary Wayne Bond, age 70, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Gary was born on April 4, 1956, in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Charles and Mary Louise Bond.

He attended University High School located on the East Tennessee State University campus where he went on to serve for more than 45 years of outstanding service establishing a reputation for his dedication while building lasting relationships with colleagues and leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Gary was a devoted Christian whose faith was at the center of his life. He lived his faith through his love for others, his willingness to serve, and the kindness and compassion he showed to those around him. He will be remembered not only for a long and meaningful career, but for the relationships he built, the lives he touched, and the example he set through his faith and character. His legacy will live on in the family and friends he loved, the people he worked alongside of, and all those who were blessed to call him a friend.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include: his daughter, Cherish Ruff and her husband, Joshua Ruff; and their two children, Bradley Ruff and Katie Ruff. He is also survived by his former wife and longtime friend, Teresa Bond; her son, Logan Bond and his wife, Cheyenne Bond; and their children, Octavia Bond and Xavier Bond. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Bond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edmund Bond and Mary Louise Collins Bond.

The family of Gary Bond will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, September 28, 2026, in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 7:00pm.
