George Howard Dykes Jr.

George Howard Dykes, Jr., age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 2, 2026.

George was the owner of Dixie Glass, Inc., which he successfully operated until its closing in 2011. He was a devoted member of the Bereans Class at Crossroads Christian Church in Gray, Tennessee, where he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lana Dykes Leonard; his parents, George Howard Dykes, Sr. and Ernestine Dykes; and his brother, Tom Dykes.

George leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his beloved wife of 63 years, Terry Dykes. He is also survived by his daughter, Tricia Myers and husband, Stephen; his granddaughters, Danielle Myers and Christina Myers; his sisters, Pat Gates and Donna Waddell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished in-laws.

George's many golfing buddies will fondly remember the laughter, stories, and unforgettable times they shared together. Their treasured memories of George will continue to be shared and enjoyed for years to come.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Minister Clint Andrews and Minister Evan Wolfe officiating.

Crossroads Christian Church is located at 1300 Suncrest Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee 37615, adjacent to Daniel Boone High School in Gray, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
