Harold E. Ramsey “Papaw” 87, of Gray, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 25, 2026, at Franklin Woods Hospital. He was born on December 4, 1938, to the late Dana H. and Zella Haire Ramsey.
Harold was known as a quiet, hardworking man who continued to work even after retirement. Throughout his entire life he gardened and raised livestock to provide for his family during the winter months. He looked forward to Spring each year so that he could “get the potatoes and onions in the ground.” An art that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in knowing that the grandkids and their families would continue this tradition.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dot Ball and Margie Wheeler, brothers Marion “Hot Shot” Ramsey, Roger Ramsey, and Dana “Junior” Ramsey.
He is survived by his children: Stephen Ramsey, Sherry and husband Pat Miller, Scotty Ramsey, Shawn Ramsey and wife Robin, and their mother Patsy Ramsey. His grandchildren who he loved and cherished dearly; Jake “Bubba” Ramsey and wife Madisyn, Mason “Tank” Ramsey and (Hayley) in addition to their sister Blakely, who “Papaw” loved as his own, along with several nieces and nephews. His remaining sister Bonnie Shaheen is greatly lost without her brother being a phone call away.
His steady presence and strong work ethic symbolize the values of a generation that worked tirelessly to provide for their loved ones, embodying a quiet strength that quietly shapes family histories and communities.
The family will receive friends on April 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. A burial will be held the following day at 1:00 pm in the Ramsey Family Cemetery, Malone Road, Watauga, Tennessee.
