Harry Burleson, 79, Ocala FL., died Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Mr. Burleson was an Excelsior, WVA native a former resident of Johnson City and had lived in Florida for a number of years. He was a WWII US Navy veteran and served in nine invasions. He was a son of the late Alma and Millard Burleson and was also preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Chattaway. Mr. Burleson owned a Shoe Store. He was an avid fisherman, birdwatcher, liked crossword puzzles, playing cards and was a lifetime member of the McCullough Mixson VFW Post of Ocala, FL. Mr. Burleson was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and a graduate of Science Hill High School.. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gladys R. Burleson, Ocala, FL; two daughters, Laura Lin Phan, Ocala, FL and Bonnie Propes, Johnson City; two brothers, Harold Burleson, Johnson City and Louis Burleson, Bristol, TN; one granddaughter, Wendy Porter, and two great granddaughters. Funeral services for Mr. Burleson will be conducted in Ocala, FL, Tuesday, June 14. Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, June 17, 2005 at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City, TN under the direction of the Kingsport VFW Post # 3382. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
