Harry Riggs Johnson

Mr. Harry Riggs Johnson, 59, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of Wanneta Riggs Johnson and the late Harry Berry Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He held a BS degree from East Tennessee State University and a Masters degree from Northeast State Community College. Survivors include other than his mother, one brother, J. Eric Johnson; one uncle, Herman May and his wife Poly; one aunt Nellie Mayfield; two cousins, Michael May and Mark May. The family of Mr. Harry Riggs Johnson will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Sunday, August 24, 2014, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Mark Gooden officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1:45 PM Monday, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 PM Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
