Hubert Blaine Cable

Hubert B. Cable, 90, 901 East Unaka Avenue, Johnson City went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. Mr. Cable was a native of Butler, Tn and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late William and Mina Reece Cable. Mr. Cable was a welder and a member of the Boiler Makers Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WW II at Pearl Harbor. He was with the 160th Army Air Force Base Unit and was awarded a Bronze Star and Gold Commemorative Metal of Honor. Mr. Cable was a member of the First Christian Church. Mr. Cable was a great lover of western movies and his favorite song was 'Home on the Range'. He is preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Floyd Cable, Earl Cable and Grant Cable; two sisters, Doris Sammons and Tiny Sligar. Survivors include: his wife, Idia Sligar Cable of the home; one son, Ned Hugh Cable of Johnson City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lovonda K. Cable of the home, Dixie and James Heatherly of Johnson City; One sister, Ruby Arnold of Mountain City; one grandson, Clint Allan Heatherly of Johnson City. Several nieces also survive. The funeral service for Hubert B. Cable will be conducted at 8 P.M. Sunday, June 19, 2005 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Bruce Davis Evangelist will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, June 20, 2005 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the V.F.W. Post # 3382 of Kingsport . Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday prior to the chapel service.
