Jack Edwin Tester, 92, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Community Living Center at the Veterans Administration in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Jack was a native of Carter County and lived there his entire life.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, the late Stacy Radford Tester and Mamie Geneva Watson Tester, and his brother, Kenneth Wesley Tester.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 71 years and 8 months, Betty Ruth Robinson Tester; two daughters, Tonita Ruth Ohman and husband, Paul, of Milton, FL and Theresa Jacqueline Davies and husband, Rick, of Elizabethton, TN; one grandson, Jack Ohman and wife, Calyn, of Pensacola, FL; one granddaughter, Kimberly McCollim of Milton, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Carson, Kylie, Madelyn, and Kaleb.
Jack was a longtime member of Heritage Baptist Church. He was very active until health failed him two to three years ago, from teaching Sunday School class from 1992-2023, to working on building projects, and serving as a trustee. He was there in any capacity needed because he loved his Lord and he loved his church. You didn’t have to talk to Jack long until you knew where he stood with his Lord. He was a very Godly man.
As an Army veteran in the Combat Engineers, he was headed to the front lines when the Korean War ended.
Jack drove a truck all his working life, having driven for Coca Cola, Pepsi, Volunteer Oil, ETWNC, Transcon, and retired from Carolina Freight Lines. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #549.
No words can express the gratitude for the wonderful, special love and care given to Jack by all the doctors, nurses, and every employee involved on the Hospice Hall at the VA Medical Center.
