James P. “Jim” Anthony, age 72, of Gray, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Born in 1953 in Middlesex, Vermont, Jim was the son of the late Phillip and Martha Johnson Anthony. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose kind spirit and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim dedicated 36 years of faithful service to the United States Postal Service before retiring, an accomplishment recognized with the presentation of a treasured gold watch. In addition to his professional career, he proudly served for several years as Director of the Southeastern American Sighthound Field Association, where he shared his love and knowledge of dogs with many friends and fellow enthusiasts.

Jim and his beloved wife, Marla, shared nine and a half wonderful years of marriage together. They attended Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray and built a life centered on faith, love, and family. Jim especially cherished time spent outdoors, enjoying hunting and nature whenever he could. He also had a tremendous love for his dogs, and the companionship they brought him throughout the years.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife, Marla Anthony; one son, Dan Anthony; and two daughters, Mindy Anthony and Alisha Anthony. He also leaves behind three faithful dogs who will greatly miss his companionship and care.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the many prayers, condolences, and acts of kindness shown during this difficult time.
