James D. Knight

James D. Knight, 66, of 336 Hugh Cox Road, Gray died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at his home. Mr. Knight was a native of Leesburg and was a son of the late Paul and Murle Palmer Knight. Mr. Knight was a Research Lab Operator in Fibers Technology at Tennessee Eastman. He retired in 1997 with twenty-nine years of service. He was a member of the Boone Trail Baptist Church. Mr. Knight was a woodworker and enjoyed making furniture, cabinets and clocks especially for his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Melinda Knight Miller. Survivors include: one daughter, Katrina D. and her husband Joel Presnell of Gray; his former wife, Jeanette Knight of Kingsport; one brother, Dale and his wife Virginia Knight of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Krista D. Presnell and Dwight A. Presnell, both of Gray; one niece Carol Riley of Blountville; several great nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for James D. Knight will be conducted at 7:30 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in the Boone Trail Baptist Church. Dr. Randal Helms will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 7:30 Tuesday, prior to the service. The committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected.
