James "Flip" Rose, Jr., age 49, of 843 Dyer Street, Johnson City, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a Glade Springs, VA native who had lived in Johnson City for 20 years. Mr. Rose was employed by American Water Heater Company for twenty years as an electrician and was a member of United Steelworkers Local #7739. He was of the Christian faith. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Campbell Rose, of the home; sister-in-law, Diane Parks, and her husband Robert, Swannanoa, NC; step-son, Rex Tackett, Temple, Georgia; two nephews, Bobby Parks, Jr., Marion, North Carolina, and Jason Parks, Weaverville, NC. Mr. Rose also leaves behind his very special cat, Sassy. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all his friends at American Water Heater Company and at home. Funeral services for Mr. Rose will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastor Lon Tobin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
