James "Jim" Richardson, age 89 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on July 6, 2025 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on November 17, 1935 in Roanoke, Virginia. He loved fishing and teaching his children how to fish. He was passionate about repairing vehicles and keeping them running. Jim volunteered at The VA Eye Center and was a Eucharistic Minister at The Immaculate Conception in Hampton, Virginia and St. Mary's in Johnson City, Tennessee.
He was Catholic and was a member of St. Mary's for the last 18 years. He married his wife Carolyn "Carol" Lahner in 1955. Jim served 22 years in the United States Army in Air Defense Artillery, Nike Missile Systems, retiring as a CWO-3 Warrant Officer. After retiring from the army Jim worked at Wyle Labs for 29 years at the NASA Facility in Hampton, Virginia.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Carolyn "Carol" Richardson who passed away on February 28, 2025.
He is survived by sons, Matt (Donna Ring) Richardson, Michael (Cheryl Barnes-Miller) Richardson, and daughter Donna (Scott Pruitt) Horowitz, and grandson, Nicholas Horowitz.
A memorial service for Mr. Richardson will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 beginning at 5:00pm in the Oak Hall of Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 4:00pm. James will be laid to rest with Carol at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
