Janet Carol Hearns Ecklund

Janet H. Ecklund, age 93, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, at The Johnson City Medical Center. She was born to the late Charles and Jeanette Hearns on June 22, 1932, in Rochester, New York.

Janet was a longtime member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. She received a bachelor's degree from E.T.S.U. in Fine Arts. For many years Janet and her mother volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Kingsport and Melting Pot in Johnson City, they also volunteered at Exchange Place in Kingsport.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence E. Ecklund.

Those left to cherish her memory, her sons, Eric (Barbara Hamby) Ecklund and Jon Ecklund; two daughters, Christy (James) Gillis and Laurel (Chris) Toft; seven grandchildren, Ginny, Leslie, James Matthew, Nathan, Sara, Andrew and Amy; and 12 great grandchildren, Chloe, Annabelle, Ezra, Ella Marie, Robbie, River, Emma Lyn, Eli, Milo and Finn, Maggie Mae and Lucy King.

A committal service will be announced at a later date.
