Jean Gentry

Jean Frye Gentry, 85, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. She was a native of Winchester, Oklahoma and a daughter of the late George Washington Lincoln Frye and Maude Hinkle Frye. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis David Gentry in 1968, a brother, George Washington Frye and two sisters, Gloria Thomas and Effie Mae Cerney. Mrs. Gentry worked at North American Rayon and later retired from Levi Strauss. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law David L. and Vivian Gentry of Gray; two step grandsons, Christopher Michael Miller of Elizabethton and Kenneth Allen Miller of Jonesborough; two step great grandchildren Summer Michelle ' Missy'? Miller and Christopher Michael Miller, II both of Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Gentry of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive including a very special nephew, Fred Thomas of Roan Mountain. A graveside service for Jean Gentry will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The Rev. Dean Presnell will officiate. A eulogy will be delivered by Kevin Carver. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
