Jean Ann Reece

March 23, 1939 — July 6, 2025

Elizabethton, Tennessee

Jean Ann Reece, 86, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Born in Elizabethton, she was the oldest of five daughters of the late Charles Franklin and Jewel Mae Lilley. Jean graduated from Mary Hughes School in Piney Flats, where she met her future husband, Gordon Reece. They married in 1957 and settled in Bristol, Virginia, where they raised four children.

Jean worked as a seamstress for several factories in East Tennessee and retired from Bristol Products. She lovingly sewed much of her children's clothing and passed on her creativity and dedication through every stitch. A lifelong reader, Jean was known for her resilience, optimism, and the gentle wisdom she shared with family and friends. Her presence was a source of comfort, her advice often sought, and her heart always open.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Reece (2016); three children, Michael Gordon Reece, Connie Lee Bivens, and Daniel Charles Reece; and a grandson, Jeremy Michael Moser.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Greg) Robinson; nine grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters: Jane Taylor, Patsy (Fred) Wolfe, Carol (Mike) Culnon, and Becky (Wayne) Oliver. She also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews and many cherished memories.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Atkinson Family Cemetery (off of Johnson Dr., Piney Flats). Those attending are kindly asked to meet at the cemetery. A reception will follow, with details announced at the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, an organization close to Jean’s heart.
