Jean Loomis Walters

Jean Elizabeth Loomis Walters, 90, of Johnson City, TN passed away on March 15, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City.

Jean attended The University of Tennessee where she was a sister of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. While at the university, Jean was voted “Most Beautiful Blonde”. She loved sharing her newspaper clippings of this achievement with her sons and grandchildren.

Jean was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She loved to socialize, and found it important everyone know how to behave in “polite society.”

Jean married Dr. Phil V. Walters and traveled with him on many adventures in the Navy. They also enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and Key West. You would frequently find them dining at the Peerless Restaurant with friends.

She loved her family. Jean and Phil were married 65 years before Phil passed away, and Jean’s marriage advice was to never go to bed angry, make the bed together each morning, and divorce is never an option.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Phil V. Walters Sr, her parents, Jack and Frances Loomis; Aunt Tiny (Mary Elizabeth Loomis); Joe Loomis, and her great grandchildren, Aliza Little and Josiah Little.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Phil V. Walters Jr. and John Loomis Walters; grandchildren, Phil V. Walters III, and Hillary (Randy) Little; great grandchildren.
