Jean Hayes Young, 86, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice knowing she is healed and in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on December 30, 1939, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Arthur and Joyce Hayes, Jean was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, where her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She faithfully served for many years as District Manager for the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development and was known for her professionalism, integrity, and unwavering work ethic.
Jean will be remembered for her grace, kindness, and the love she showed to everyone she met. She cherished her family above all else and found great joy in spending time with them and on the golf course with family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Douglas Young; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
