Jerry Lynn Oliver

Jerry Lynn Oliver, age 69, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, peacefully went home to be with his Heavenly Father at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Jerry was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years owning and operating his own brick masonry business before later beginning a career with Eastman Chemical Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, skilled craftsmanship, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Outside of work, Jerry had a deep passion for hunting and fishing and treasured the time spent enjoying the outdoors. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers football fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Vols. Jerry also enjoyed working on cars, tackling maintenance projects, and staying busy with anything he could build, repair, or improve with his hands.

Jerry was a faithful member of Riverside Community Church for Jesus and greatly loved attending services and fellowshipping with his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Oliver; his sister, Sherry Barnett; and his brother-in-law, Mike Barnett.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 44 years, Patricia Oliver; daughter, Rebecca Murray and husband, James Murray; sons, Travis Oliver and wife, Samantha, and Noah Oliver; grandchildren, Emily Honeycutt, Matthew Murray, Sophia Murray, Cassidy Murray, and Dawn Marie Huntsman; as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Community Church for Jesus, 121 Patterson Lane, Elizabethton, TN 37643. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ben Johnson officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Murray, Matthew Murray, Travis Oliver, Alex Goins, David Hitchens, and William Lusk.
