Jessie Juanita Carter

Jessie Juanita 'Mamaw' Scarborough Carter, age 81, 1903 Cherokee Road, Johnson City, went to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, April 23, 2005. She was a Buncombe County, North Carolina native who had lived in Asheville before relocating to Johnson City 35 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Richmond P. and Della Virginia Ledford Scarborough. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grandview Christian Church and a member of the Calling Ladies of Grandview. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by: her husband, Jack Lee Carter, deceased 1988; two step-brothers, James and Charles Ledford, formerly of Nebo, NC; and step-sister, Nancy Rose, formerly of Washington, D.C. Survivors include one daughter, Melinda Virginia Carter, of the home, one granddaughter, five great-grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
