Joan Luther Oakley

Joan Luther Oakley, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. She was a native of Thomasville, NC but had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late, Herbert L. and Maude Carter Luther. Mrs. Oakley was a retired Registered Nurse and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include one son, John Edward Oakley and his wife, Jane of Elizabethton; one daughter, Nancy Caroline Oakley of Johnson City; two sisters, Caroline Lockett of Johnson City and Helen Ottinger of Elizabethton; two Granddaughters, Elizabeth Oakley and Olivia Oakley both of Elizabethton; three nieces, Linda, Lucy and Kimberly; one nephew, Chris; seven Great Nieces and Nephews Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel. The family will receive friends at the church in the Parlor from 3:00 until 4:00 pm.
