Joan Stoneman, 68, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center on Friday, March 20, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Joan was born on December 28, 1957, to the late Bill and Mary Markland. She was a graduate of David Crockett High School.
Joan dedicated 40 years of her life to her work as a cosmetologist and nail technician, working alongside her aunt, Linda Gouge. She continued to grow in her profession by attending cosmetology and fashion shows and earning continuing education credits. Joan was especially known for her beautiful and creative nail art.
Beyond her career, Joan had a deep love for art and was talented in drawing and painting. She also had a remarkable green thumb and took great joy in gardening. From childhood throughout her life, she enjoyed riding motorcycles—one of her favorite pastimes.
In April 1987, Joan married her husband, Eddie Stoneman, and they shared nearly 40 wonderful years together.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved uncles, Harmon Gouge and Jimmy Fields.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Eddie Stoneman; her daughter, Cassie Neeley and her husband, David Babb; her cherished granddaughter, Olivia Neeley; her aunts, Linda Gouge and Judy Fields; her uncle, Joe Wilson; her cousins, Scott Fields, Sarah Mabe, Zac Wilson, and Luke Wilson; and her beloved dog, Otis.
