John Wayne Boone, age 84 of Johnson City (Boones Creek), Tennessee passed away peacefully with his son by his side. He was born on July 4, 1941 to the late Wayne "Red" and Beatrice Boone of Boones Creek.
He graduated from Boones Creek High School. John's favorite past time was playing golf and spending time in his yard; he also loved his dog, Ivy. John never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a great sense of humor and was ready to play a prank any chance that he got.
John has recently rededicated his life to The Lord and spent much of his time discussing and rebuilding his faith with friends and family. He was a very proud Vietnam Veteran that served side by side with his brother Jim in U.S. Army.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert "Rob" D. Boone; brothers, Bill (Judy) Boone, Jim (Janice) Boone, and sister, Phoebe (Johnny) Yates, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Becky Boone Smith for the dedicated and unwavering care she provided John in his last days.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 8:45am until 9:45am at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be immediately following beginning at 9:45am. A graveside service will be held in Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11:00am on Friday, December 12, 2025.
