John Allen Elsasser, 80, of Johnson City, Tennessee.

Born 12/05/1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Died 08/31/2025 in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Beloved son of Joseph Frank and Edna (Berge) Elsasser.

John grew up in Waukegan and graduated from Waukegan Township High School. He participated in the band program. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business.

He was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. His graduate work was done at Florida State University and led to a long career in banking.

He served honorably in Vietnam and will be interred at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday, September 5, 2025. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery no earlier than 9:40am.

He is survived by his sister Rosemary Haraldsson, his daughter Gailind Elsasser and Susan Aycock, and his granddaughters Madison and Jordan McIntosh.

Although he was born in Illinois, he lived for many years in Panama City, Florida and in retirement he moved to Johnson City, Tennessee to be closer to his family. Despite living outside Illinois for much of his life, he maintained close ties to his roots and family there. He will be greatly missed.
