Rev. John Russell Davidson, 83, of Johnson City, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a native of Dante, Virginia, son of the late James Newton and Madie Pearl Burgess Davidson. Rev. John had been a Pastor, founded and was a member of the Way of the Cross Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Proffitt. Survivors include: his wife, Lillian Carver Davidson of the home; four sons, Danny Davidson of Saltville, VA, Floyd Brumit, Edward Brumit and Roger Davidson all of Johnson City; two daughters, Purdie Mae Price of Mt. City and Barbara Cole of Johnson City; there are nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted in the South Chapel at 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Jim Chatman and Rev. Jack Maupin. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. A procession will leave the funeral home to the cemetery at 10:40 a.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607-1460.
