Joseph Mcarthur Cross

Joseph M. 'Joe Mac'? Cross, 72, of Piney Flats, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Bluff City, son of the late Elbert and Delia Miller Cross. Joseph was a retired warehouse supervisor for the Georgia '? Pacific Corporation. He was a member of the Poplar Ridge Christian Church. In addition to his parents, a son, Dennis Cross, two brothers and three sisters, preceded Joseph in death. Survivors include: his wife, Jane Broyles Cross of the home; a son, Joseph W. Cross of Piney Flats; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Curt Horner of Jonesborough; a sister, Earlene Proffitt of Watauga; three brothers, Nathan Cross of Bristol, Preston Cross of Bluff City and Phillip Cross and his wife, Sue of Bristol; five grandchildren; Cassie Dennis, Bryanne Dennis, Katie Cross, Nikki Horner and Chase Horner; a great grandchild, Tristan Dennis; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 pm in the North Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Pastor Brad Perry. A committal service will be at the Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats at 11:00 am on Friday, October 3, 2014. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 10:30 am. Active pallbearers will be: Jerry Dempsey, Frank Taylor, Richard Rolen, Steve Elsea, Curt Horner and Mike Dennis. Honorary pallbearers will be: Marvin Smith, Charlie Harman. Roy Broyles and Clive A.
