Joyce Kessler

Joyce B. Kessler, 72, of Blountville, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Johnson City, a daughter of the late Thurman Columbus and Ura Princess Compton Leonard. She graduated with a Bachelors of Education from Milligan College, going on the obtain her Masters later on. She taught at Evangel Christian Academy for over twenty-two years. Joyce attended River of Life Baptist Church in Piney Flats. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rod Kessler. Survivors include: two children, Helene (Adam) Pritchett and Noelle (Matt) Rivera; three siblings, Priscilla Raver, Linda Huntsberry, and Thomas (Diane) Leonard; and five grandchildren, Harrison, Isabella, Cole, Lorelei, and Betsy. The family of Joyce Kessler will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at River of Life Baptist Church, 823 N Austin Springs Rd, Piney Flats. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Donnie Humphreys. A committal service will be held afterward at 1:00 PM at Washington County Memory Gardens.
