Laura Bennett Murray, 93, 135 Jim McNeese Road, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Murray was a native of North Carolina and had lived most of her life in Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late Gillan and Hester Barnett Bennett. Mrs. Murray was a homemaker and a member of the Dry Creek F.W.B. Church. She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Nathan Murray in 1977,a grandson Michael Crowder, and by seven brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: four daughters, Ethel Slagle, Pansy Harmon and Bertha Ford all of Johnson City, Wanda Davis of Jonesborough; two sons, Tex Murray and William Murray, both of Johnson City; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Laura Bennett Murray will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, October 27, 2006 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Richard Shepherd will officiate. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 AM Saturday in the Barnett Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service. At other times friends may visit the family at the residences of the daughters and sons.
