Obituary for Lera Joyce WinfieldIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lera Joyce Winfield, who left us on December 19, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Belhaven, NC on April 18, 1936, Joyce lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. She brought joy to those around her as a beloved teacher in the Pinellas County School System, shaping the minds of many in the Tarpon Springs, FL community.

Joyce was a proud holder of a Master's Degree, which spoke to her commitment to education and her students' success. She often shared her passion for learning and instilled a love of knowledge in those she taught.

Joyce was preceded in death by parents Joseph Howard Gaskins, Jessie Lee Tolbert, her brother Joseph Howard Gaskins Jr, and her loving husband Daniel Winfield.

Joyce is survived by her nephews, Michael Winfield (Rita), Frank Whitley, and nieces, Georgia Winfield, Joanie Keller, Jeanne Benson (Oran), and Mary Nichols (Randy), who will carry on her spirit and the values she instilled in those who knew her.

 

Her memorial service will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and the legacy she leaves behind. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in commemorating a woman who truly made a difference in the lives of many.
