Lewis E. DePriest Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lewis E. DePriest, aged 80, who went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2026. Lewis passed away peacefully at his home in Johnson City, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lewis was born on April 5, 1946, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to the late Milton and Thelma DePriest. He spent his working years as a carpenter in the construction industry, proudly serving various companies throughout his career until his retirement in 2006. A true craftsman, Lewis took great pride in his work and firmly believed that any job worth doing was worth doing well. He was happiest with his tools in his hand.
Those who knew Lewis well also knew of his deep love for NASCAR. He was a devoted fan and an avid collector of NASCAR memorabilia, a passion that brought him great joy over the years.
Above all else, Lewis was a family man. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 60 years, Nancy, and a proud father to his three sons: Louie DePriest, Jr. (Melissa) of Jonesborough, TN; Kelly DePriest (Rachel) of Stafford, VA; and Jamie DePriest (Heather) of Gray, TN. Lewis spent his life ensuring his family was provided for in every way. His sons could not have asked for a better father or role model.
Lewis also treasured the time he spent with his six grandchildren: Amber DePriest, Josh DePriest, Katie DePriest, Caleb DePriest (Courtney), Holden DePriest, and Connor DePriest (Nicole). He was further blessed to enjoy many years with his two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Natalie. They all adored their "Chachi" and will forever cherish the love, laughter, and memories they shared with him.
In addition to his immediate family, Lewis is survived by eight brothers and two sisters, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Lewis leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, dedication, and unconditional love for his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
The DePriest Family will receive friends will 2:00 - 4:00 PM Saturday April 11, 2026 at Morris Baker Funeral Home.
