Linda Stewart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away leaving a profound and immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew her. Strong, devoted, resilient, and deeply loved, Linda’s life was defined by service—to her family, her patients, her students, and her community.

For more than 50 years, Linda dedicated herself to healthcare. She spent over 25 of those years at Unicoi County Hospital, where she served as the Director of the Laboratory, a role she cherished and excelled in. Linda’s passion for her work and her commitment to quality care touched countless lives. In addition to her hospital career, she shared her expertise and love of learning through teaching Medical Assistant night classes at Science Hill Vocational School, helping shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Linda also devoted time to causes close to her heart. She was a proud member of NAMI and volunteered with the American Red Cross. She was always ready to help those in need.

She was known and loved by many—friends, coworkers, students, and community members whose lives were brighter because of her kindness and guidance. To many, she was like a second mother.

Linda was preceded in death by her Father-Thomas Lilly and Mother-Hazel Lilly. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Crawford, Blanche Kahl, Louise Crawford, Rosetta Mortz, Helen Lawson, and by brothers Ernest Lilly, Maxie Lilly, and Dewey Lilly.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Walter Stewart Jr., and their three children: Jennifer Stewart Wilson, Walter Stewart III, and Sam Stewart, who will forever carry her strength and love with them. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Taylor Sexton, Makenzie Wilson, Camron Stewart, Jeremiah Wilson, and Ty Wilson, and her great-grandchildren Payton Sexton and Tate Sexton, who brought her endless joy.

Linda is survived by her brother William J. Lilly and his wife Janet, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly—including her beloved nieces Jenny Lawing and Irene Foulks as well as her cousin Darlene Smith.

She loved her God deeply, and we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in His arms.

To all who knew her, Linda was truly one of a kind—steadfast, compassionate, and unwavering in her devotion to the people she loved. Her absence is felt deeply, but her legacy endures in the countless lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.

She will be missed beyond measure.
