Lois Hayes Whitaker

Lois Hayes Whitaker, 89, Johnson City, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Mrs. Whitaker was a Jonesborough native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late George and Dora McKee Hayes. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Mrs. Hayes retired from J.C. Penney after thirty years of employment with the company. She was preceded in death by: her parents and three brothers, Howard, Frank, and Marvin Hayes. Survivors include: son, Lynn Whitaker, and his wife Annie, Johnson City; daughter, Sharron Phillips, and her husband Darroll, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Chris Whitaker, and his wife Kim, and Chad Whitaker, and his wife Stacey, all of Johnson City; granddaughter, Cindy Smith, and her husband Eddie, Johnson City; four great-grandchildren, Chloe Whitaker, Triston Smith, Taylor White, and Zack White, all of Johnson City; sister, Marie France, and her husband Harold, Bristol, VA; brother, Ellis Hayes, and his wife Shirley, Telford; and several nieces and nephews.
