Lucinda Margaret McDonald, 88, 3513 Bondwood Circle, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 at her residence after an extended battle with cancer. A West Virginia native and a daughter of the late Arthur and Luna (Peyton) Fortner, she relocated to Johnson City in 2001 to be with her niece, Linda McLaughlin and her family. Though she lived in Johnson City for only six years, Mrs. McDonald made many friends here and was beloved by all who came to know her. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. McDonald was an E.K.G. technician and had retired from C&O Hospital in Huntington, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Virgil Edward McDonald in 1996; a sister, Roberta Bloss; and four brothers, Robert Fortner, William Fortner, Allen Fortner, and Cecil Fortner. Survivors include her niece, Linda McLaughlin who was like a daughter and her husband, Dr. Dean McLaughlin, and their children, who were 'grandchildren'? to Mrs. McDonald: April Stephens and her husband Frank, Seth McLaughlin, Jennifer Williams and her husband Chris, all of Johnson City; Chris McLaughlin and his wife Wendy, and Mathew McLaughlin of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Mikey McLaughlin and his wife Adria of Knoxville. Also surviving are six 'great-grandchildren'? including eleven-month-old Alyssa Williams who was very special to her 'AA'?, as well as Taylor, Adam, and Evan Stephens, Katie McLaughlin, and Bascha McLaughlin; a very special sister-in-law, Rachel Fortner of Omaha, NE and special neighbors from Huntington, Mr.& Mrs. Gene Johnson. A funeral service for Lucinda Margaret McDonald will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 7:00 PM from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The Rev. Greg Knoll will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington, WV. The family will receive friends in the mausoleum chapel at the cemetery beginning at 1:00 PM.
