Margaret Gaines Bishop, 88, 117 Marguerite Lane, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Bishop was a native of Petrolia, Texas, and had lived in Washington County, Tennessee, for seventy-three years. She was a daughter of the late John Merrell and Nellie Sexton Gaines. Mrs. Bishop was a Devoted Christian Mother and Homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Robert D. Bishop, in 1979; by three brothers, John Gaines, Bill Gaines and Ralph Gaines; one granddaughter, Dorinda Bishop Carroll; one great granddaughter, Shana Carroll; one great grandson, Jacob Bishop. Survivors include: five daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Greene, of Johnson City, Helen and John Williams, of Nashville, Frances Shephard, of Johnson City, Brenda Johnson, of Johnson City, and Diane and Jack Dempsey, of Johnson City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Carolyn Bishop, of Johnson City, Bob and Pat Bishop, of Johnson City, and Ansley Bishop, of Johnson City; two sisters, Doris Hunt, of Calhoun, Georgia, and Mary Willbanks and husband, Bill, of New Port Richey, Florida. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Margaret Gaines Bishop will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, May 13, 2005, at First Christian Church. Mr. Tim Wallingford will officiate. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church, Mountcastle Drive, on Friday from 6 to 8 PM prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Mr. Steve Hill will officiate. Family and friends will meet at the funeral chapel at 10:30 AM Saturday and proceed to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Randy Lawrence, Robert Fabrizio, Darby Bishop, Jeff Johnson, Marc Johnson, Robbie Johnson, Drake Walsh, Drew Walsh, Colby Bishop, Matthew Bishop, Nathan Bishop and Eric Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Harold Alison, Dr. Stanley Vermillion, John Williams, Jack Dempsey, Todd Norris and Wes Miller.
