Listen to Obituary

Margaret Louise “Kay” (Atwood) Roupas, 89, of Beech Creek, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2026. Born in Beech Creek and raised in Mountain City, Tennessee, Kay was a standout cheerleader and majorette in her youth before building a loving life in Johnson City, with her husband of over sixty years, Gus Roupas, who preceded her in death.

Kay was devoted to her family: children; Mark, Dawn, and Herb, her four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was known for her sharp mind at the card table, enjoying her love of bridge and teaching her grandchildren the finer points of poker.

She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the joy she brought to every gathering. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the healthcare professionals and staff at both Dominion Senior Living and NHC of Johnson City.

Mom, your work on this earth is done. Go rest high on that Mountain!
