Mark Edwin Beasley

Mark Edwin Beasley, age 75, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the VA Mountain Home Medical Center.

A native of Johnson City, Mark was born and raised in East Tennessee and remained proud of his hometown throughout his life. He also lived in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as Groton, Connecticut, and Orlando, Florida, during his years of military service.

Mark graduated from University High School in Johnson City in 1968. During his youth, he played competitive basketball and baseball. He honorably served his country in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. From July 1972 until July 1976, he served in the United States Air Force as a Law Enforcement and Security Specialist. He received NCO of Month in the 377 Security Police and Honorable Discharge. Later, from January 1988 until March 1992, Mark served in the United States Navy, where he completed submarine duty as an Underwater Torpedo Fire Control Technician and worked as a Basic Electronic Instructor. He was again honorably discharged from military service. During his time in the Navy, Mark earned several commendations and honors, including the Navy Efficiency Ribbon, Sea Service Ribbon, and Fidelity Zeal Obedience recognition.

Following his military career, Mark was known for his remarkable skills as a handyman and craftsman. He could tackle projects ranging from simple household repairs to complete home remodeling. His talents included carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work. Mark took great pride in working with his hands and helping others through his craftsmanship.

In his free time, Mark enjoyed woodworking and especially loved making birdhouses. He found peace and satisfaction in creating things that reflected both his creativity and practical skill. Mark had the incredible ability to play the guitar without any formal lessons. He enjoyed playing his Ovation 12 string acoustic guitar that he purchased directly from the factory while stationed in Groton, Connecticut.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his brother, Glen Beasley of Summerville, South Carolina; his sister, Jennifer Mazzei (Stephen Jacobson) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his uncles, Larry Price (Judy Price) of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, Muriel Broyles of Georgia, and Keith Price of Piney Flats, Tennessee; as well as several cousins and extended family members.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mark will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, June 1, 2026, in the Dogwood Chapel at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Celebrant Kim Bushore-Maki will officiate the services. A lunch reception will immediately follow the memorial service in the Oak Hall. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00am Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery no later than 9:45am. Since Mark was not into formal dress, the functions will be casual with team jerseys a good touch.

To honor Mark’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Mark to the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the VA Mountain Home Medical Center for the compassionate care provided to Mark during his final days. Also, a special thanks to all of Mark’s dear friends that include high school classmates, Boone Boat Club members, neighbors, and numerous folks of Beef O’ Brady’s in Johnson City for their kindness, comradery, and friendship.
