Martha Lee Johnson

Mrs. Martha Johnson, 83, 510 Hart Avenue, Johnson City, passed away Thursday June 3, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late John Emmit Allen and Mable Lambert Allen. In addition to her parents her husband, Ben A. Johnson; one son, Ben A. 'Benny'? Johnson, Jr.; two brothers, John Allen and Larry Allen also preceded her in death. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, Ronald Johnson and his wife Connie of Piney Flats and Garry Johnson and his wife Diane of Jonesborough; one adopted daughter, Georgia Jones and her husband Harold of Chucky; two sisters, Annie Spears and Nancy Howell both of Raleigh, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; special friends, Irene Stills and Linda Yarber. The funeral service for Mrs. Martha Johnson will be conducted at 7 PM Saturday June 5, 2010 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Jim Chatman will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Mike Chatman, Mack Ensor, Scott Ensor, Shawn Morelock, Jacob Morelock and Curtis Abbott. The honorary pallbearers will be: The men of Calvary Baptist Church. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 PM Sunday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday prior to the service.
