Mrs. Mildred N. Davis, 85, died Friday, January 27, 2012, at her home. A native of Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late John Fred and Ann Yates Baird. At age six, Mildred decided she wanted to be a nurse. She nursed for 50 years and was a member with her best friend Eloise Campbell, of the private duty nurse register of East Tennessee. She retired from Asbury as charge nurse on the second floor. Mildred was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church on Cherokee Road. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank 'Buster'? L. Davis; one brother Harry Baird; and three sisters Sylvia Baird, Katheryn Chesser, and Mable Baird; and two aunts Elizabeth Caldwell, and Thursa DelNero. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Ann Breeden and husband Cal of Richmond, VA; two sons, Donald F. Davis and wife Betty and George Tate Davis and wife Jan, all of Johnson City; two brothers Paul Baird of Gloucester, VA and Yates Baird of Gate City, VA; five sisters Betty Honeycutt of Jackson, Mary Lee Ledford of Jonesborough, Patsy Lyons of Elizabethton, Joy Penley of Johnson City, and Peggy Sweeney of Telford; seven grandchildren, Machelle, Mary, Donald Jr., Chris, Kim, Leiane, and Chris B.; nineteen great grandchildren, Craig, Cheyenne, Hunter, Avery, Eric, Ashley, Kayla, Zach, Jake, Robbie, Emily, Alexandra, Ashlyn, Justin, Valarie, Davis, Jacob, Catherine, and Emily; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends, Monday, 5:30-7:00pm, at Morris Baker Funeral Home. Services will be held, 7:00pm, at Morris Baker Funeral Home, in the South Chapel, with Dr. Dwayne Baird and Rev. Greg Salyer officiating. Burial will be made Tuesday, 11:00am, at The Davis Family Cemetery, Foscoe, North Carolina. Arrangements entrusted to Morris Baker Funeral Home, 2001 E.
