Mildred Graham Pierce, age 85, of Louisville, KY, was born on June 27, 1939, in Campbellsville, KY. This spirited soul lived a life that touched many hearts. A devoted mother, doting grandmother, homemaker, and friend, Mildred peacefully passed away on November 3, 2024, at her residence in Johnson City, TN, surrounded by loved ones.
Mildred loved fashion and was always well dressed for any occasion. After obtaining her master’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University, she began her career as a Home Economics teacher and transitioned to a stay-at-home mom. She married the love of her life, Joseph H. Pierce. They were long-time members of Hurstbourne Baptist Church.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lizzie Graham, husband Joseph, siblings, Chick and Merlin, and grandson, Xander Pierce.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Charles “Jason” Pierce and Jonathan Pierce and wife Kasi; grandchildren, Kendall, Jaxon, and Lauren Pierce, and her best friend Diana Hancock, who will always carry the memory of her unconditional love, unwavering faith in God, and her unending generosity in all their hearts.
In accordance with her wishes, Mildred will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY. There will be a small graveside ceremony for family.
Mildred’s loving spirit and witty sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mildred’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
