Naomi "Trixie" Baird

May 16, 1934 — September 2, 2023

Naomi Jean “Trixie” Baird completed her faithful journey and earned her angel wings on September 2, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.


Trixie was born on May 16, 1934, in Dante, Virginia, to the late Rural Phillips and Susan Hayes Phillips. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and trusted best-friend to so many.


She was raised in Carter County and lived in Johnson City most of her life. Trixie was a faithful member for many years at Fellowship Community Church in Watauga. She and her daughters enjoyed many bus trips with the church.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Baird; sister, Ruby Baird; and brothers, Troy and Dean Phillips.


Those left to cherish her memory include: her two daughters, Carmen Glover (Larry) and Pam Jackson (Wayne), both of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Tracy Lacey (Scott) and Cheri Swartz (Kelly), both of Jonesborough; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Jet Swartz of Jonesborough; and three sisters, Polly Gentry (Roscoe) of Unicoi, Mary Kearney (Carl) of Gray, and Becky Berry, of Erwin; one brother, Johnny Holloway of Hampton; several nieces and nephews; and special family, The Britt and Stout girls.


A funeral service for Mrs. Baird will be conducted on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the Dogwood Chapel from 12:00PM-1:00PM prior to service. Pastors Ken Hauser and Paul Grapes will officiate, with music provided by soloist Rick Sweeney. Graveside service will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:00PM. Those attending are asked to gather at Morris-Baker Funeral Home by 1:45 PM to go in procession.


Randy Gentry, Clint Hoilman, Rick Kyte, Scott Lacey, Wayne Smith, and Jet Swartz will serve as pallbearers, with honorary pallbearers Larry Glover and Kelly Swartz.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Fellowship Community Church, 430 E 4th Avenue, Watauga, TN 37694.
