In Loving Memory of Oliver Joshua Nunn Jr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oliver Joshua Nunn Jr., a cherished husband, beloved uncle, and dedicated pharmacist, who left us on August 22, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 18, 1940, in Almo, Tennessee, Oliver spent his childhood in West Tennessee, where he played a variety of sports at Halls High School. He would later go on to attend Mississippi State University and proudly graduated with a Doctorate from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 1970.
Josh had a passion for his work as a pharmacist, starting his own drug store in Halls before moving to Johnson City, where he continued his career at CVS / Hillcrest Drug Store. A true advocate for helping others, he dedicated his life to serving his community until his retirement in 2017.
A devoted fan of the University of Tennessee, Oliver loved to cheer on his team, whether it was on the field for football or the court for basketball. Beyond sports, he was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with friends and sharing meals. He found joy in keeping in touch with his loved ones.
Left to cherish his memory his wife, Phoebie Nunn of 24 years, sister Blanche Hamilton, brother Jim & (Faye) Nunn, his nieces, Shirley Willis, Ann Calderwood, Jeanne & (Josh) Merlis of Germany, and his nephews, Brian & (Wanda) Hamilton of Japan, great nephews Alexander Calderwood, Rosie Calderwood, and Ben & (Christy) Campbell. Special friends Jim Simmons, Ken Souder.
Oliver was preceded in death by Oliver Nunn Sr & Alice Warren
Josh was a proud member of Grace Fellowship Church, where he touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.
A celebration of Josh's life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Morris Baker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. The service will be officiated by Care Pastor Jamin Rathbun. Pallbearers will be Ken Souder, Rick Souder, Ben Campbell, and Doug Austin.
Joshua Nunn leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and a continued commitment to help those in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
