Richard Bennett, 84, 109 Jim McNeese Road, Johnson City died Sunday, March 26, 2006 in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Bennett was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a son of the late Harrison and Georgia Pearl Arnett Bennett. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Marine Corp. Mr. Bennett was a retired line operator from the Holston Defense Plant in Kingsport. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Barbara June Loudy Bennett in 1996; and three brothers, Roy Bennett, Henry Bennett and Elmer Bennett. Survivors include: a son, Richard D. Bennett of Johnson City ; a grandson, Tracy Allen Bennett of Cleveland, TN; two great grandsons, Chandler Bennett and Canaan Bennett ,both of Cleveland; six brothers, Clyde Bennett of Hay Market, VA, John Bennett and Micky Bennett both of Molalla, Oregon, Ray Bennett . Farrell Bennett and R.C. Bennett all of Johnson City; five sisters, Sarah Humphreys of Dallas, TX, Ann Barnett of Johnson City, Frances Campbell of Watauga, TN, Juanita Rice of St. Simons, GA and Dorothy Ledbury of Oregon; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Richard Bennett will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, March 30, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Wendy Bennett will officiate and provide the music. The graveside service will conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Everyone will meet at the cemetery On Friday at 10:55 AM. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service.
