Ricky "Rick" William Estep, 66, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Rick was born on June 7, 1959, to Doris Sue Estep and the late Creed Estep. He graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1977. During his middle school years, he met the love of his life, Kim Huckaba. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong love story, and the two became high school sweethearts before marrying on December 12, 1981. Together, they built a loving home and raised two children, Josh and Brooke.
Rick retired from CSX after 33 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and devotion to his family. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, practicing karate, and spending time outdoors. Above all, Rick cherished the moments he shared with his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kim Estep; his father, Creed Estep; his brother, Dan Estep; his brother-in-law, Jack Shipley; his nephew, Casey Shipley; his niece, Chanda Shipley; and his parents-in-law, Ben and Jewel Huckaba.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Josh Estep and wife, Whitney; his daughter, Brooke Tolley and husband, Jeremiah; his grandchildren, Addison, Harper, and Mason Estep, and Abraham Tolley; his mother, Doris Sue Estep; his brother, Ed Estep and wife, Nancy; his sister-in-law, Pam McCurry and husband, Kenneth; his brother-in-law, Kevin Huckaba and wife, Donna; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Rick will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to those he cared about, and the kindness and steady presence he brought to the lives of others. His memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
Rick's family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m., under the direction of Kenneth McCurry. A graveside service will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Monte Vista Memorial Park, under the direction of Jonathan Huckaba. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are invited to join a procession departing from Morris-Baker Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m.
Active pallbearers include: Josh Estep, Jeremiah Tolley, Ed Estep, Hayden Shipley, Bryson Shipley, and Jonathan Huckaba.
