Robert L. Bob Church

Mr. Robert L. 'Bob' Church, age 76, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Church was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late James and Donnie York Church. In addition to his parents one daughter, Barbara Church Peterson; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Jane Peters; three sisters, Martha P. Orren, Georgia L. Wilburn and Sally E. Tucker also preceded him in death. Mr. Church was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Dorothy A. Church; three daughters, Patricia Ann Church Rosenberry, Kathy E. Church Hartley and Denise Church Dyer; one stepdaughter, Teresa A. Diehl; one stepson, Robert Hartley; one sister, Violet M. Church; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family of Mr. Robert L. 'Bob' Church will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the South Chapel at 8 PM. Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
